Chen

Hello I’m Chen. I’m from Taiwan and Salvador that means I could actually speak in both Chinese and Spanish 😊. An interesting mixture I know. I have been living in Kamloops for around 3 years now but I have been traveling around from time to time whenever possible to places such as Vancouver, Edmonton, Los Angeles, and even Las Vegas. I am a TRU student studying in Communication which changed me completely giving me several new opportunities to meet many interesting people specifically in different clubs such as Gaming Club, Anime Club, and Music Club as I have experience as board member in the anime club before its disappearance. During my time being active within clubs I have learned over how to communicate with many who are afraid into engaging despite the similar interest. Outside of TRU I am personally interested into fantasy story writing, music, 3D printing and video games spending good amount of my time chatting with my friends while gaming with them.

Maximus Ardiles Jewell

I am Maximus Jewell (or just Max). I was born and raised in Kamloops, British Columbia, and have been living there for more than fifteen years. The hobbies that I like to do in my spare time are playing the drums and going skiing. After completing my elementary education at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (O.L.P.H.), I transferred to St. Ann’s Academy. I’m now pursuing my Bachelor of Arts degree at Thompson Rivers University (TRU). In the past, I worked as a summer employee as a landscaper worker around Kamloops. I hope to work as a paramedic in the future and then get a career in Occupational Therapy after I finish my studies.

Oreoluwa Alakaba

Hi! I’m Oreo – yes, like the cookie! I’m from Lagos, Nigeria and i have been in Kamloops for about a year now, I guess time does go by quick when you’re up to new things! I’m a 2nd year Digital Journalism student at TRU, which has made me break out of my shell and given me hands-on experience in storytelling, reporting and production. One of my favourite classes was Audio Storytelling because i got to “fulfill” my childhood dream of being a radio broadcaster. Alongside my studies, I also work in Student Services at TRU as an Orientation and Transitions Mentor, acting as a new student genie, to put it simply- i get to help new students guiding them through their first steps and making TRU feel a little more like home. Outside of academics and work, i love watching movies, listening to music and working out. Altogether, i try to balance creativity, learning and wellness!
